Water Supply Network

Do you want to ensure clean water and a good living environment for everyone living and staying in Uppsala municipality? Help us contribute to our community-critical work by developing our stormwater management and contributing to the expansion of the public water supply system. We are now looking for an investigation engineer with a special focus on stormwater issues.

About the position

As an investigation engineer, you will work both with preliminary studies and with preparing documentation for investment decisions, to enable the expansion of the public water supply system and to meet the environmental requirements set. Examples of this may include investigating the need for expansion of the pipeline network and stormwater facilities in new detailed planning areas as well as stormwater facilities within existing areas. The investigations may include both technical and legal questions.

Your tasks will include:

• Monitoring the interests of the water supply authority in new detailed plans, e.g., by ensuring that space is available for public water supply facilities and reviewing stormwater investigations.
• Conducting preliminary studies and investigations regarding potential exploitation and the need for new or reconstruction of stormwater facilities.
• Preparing project directives and other documentation for investment decisions.
• Providing support for designers and construction managers in the design and contracting phases for developed investment projects.
• Monitoring the functionality of existing stormwater facilities through site visits and sampling, and if necessary, ordering operational and maintenance measures.
• Establishing operation and maintenance instructions as well as sampling programs for stormwater facilities.
• Participating in supervision meetings for stormwater facilities.

You will belong to the Expansion group in the Planning Network section. Here you will be part of an engaged team of investigation engineers where collaboration and well-being are highly valued. You will also have close cooperation with other functions within the company, such as our operations staff and project managers, as well as with the municipality and external stakeholders. Within your own section, there are strategists and engineers in hydraulic modeling for support.

Qualifications

• Civil engineer/university engineer in environmental and water engineering or similar, or another university degree combined with extensive experience in water supply issues.
• Previous experience in water supply investigations, water supply planning, and/or design.
• Previous experience working with stormwater facilities, such as dimensioning and design of facilities.
• Driver's license B.
• Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.

It is advantageous if you also have:

• Knowledge and experience in water supply legislation and the community building process.
• Experience in sampling, monitoring, and evaluating stormwater facilities.
• Knowledge and experience in the maintenance of stormwater facilities.

Other information

A large part of our operations is classified as community-critical since we supply Sweden's fourth largest city with drinking water. For this position, a security clearance will be conducted before employment. You should also be prepared to be assigned to a war placement within the framework of Uppsala Water and Waste's role in total defense. Uppsala Water applies a six-month probationary period. Your workplace will be in newly renovated premises in Uppsala Business Park and in Librobäck. There is some opportunity for remote work by agreement.
